Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test. OCT is a unique test because it allows doctors to look at cross-sectional layers of the retina, the nerves and blood vessel in the back of the eye. Each of the ten layers in the retina can be viewed in amazing detail.
OCT allows the doctor to measure the thickness of each layer to aid in the early diagnosis and long-term management of many retinal diseases and conditions. These include age-related macular degeneration, pre-retinal membranes, macular swelling, macular holes, cystoid macular edema, central serous retinopathy, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and optic nerve damage.
EyeCare Technicians Meredith Johnson and Tracy Fuller have recently earned the designation of Certified Paraoptometric (CPO). The certification includes study in the fields of Optics, Ocular Anatomy & Sciences, Clinical EyeCare Procedures and Professional Studies. The CPO designation signifies superior skill in patient care and ophthalmic procedures.
